Principal's Message
Kharupetia College is one of the premier institutions of higher education in Darrang District. The College has been set up with the painstaking efforts of some academically conscious personalities and visionaries of social change and sustainable development who felt the need of an institution of higher education in a socio-economically backward area of the District like Kharupetia in the year 1981. We have come a long way from those early years but our effort of striving to extend quality education to the students of the under privileged, minority concentrated area like Kharupetia still continues.
Our journey is not about teaching the curriculum; rather it is about holistic development of the students and the entire community as well. I, as the principal of the college, strongly believe that Education is just not merely acquirement of facts but also of values which help us to improve the different facets of mankind. Education in true sense of the term helps shaping the personality of a student into a healthy mind and happy soul who can not only think rationally with his academic excellence but also face the challenges of life in a balanced and harmonious way. For this, we promise to create an environment in the institution where the esteem faculties, staff, students and parents and all the stakeholders may work as a team to unleash the potentialities of the youth for a better future.
We provide eco-friendly and sustainable environment in the campus and try to imbibe core values and culture so that students become good human beings and citizens.
Development of Skill amongst the student irrespective of gender has been one of our priority areas. Besides offering conventional Arts, and Commerce education and B.Voc programmes we also offer vocational and job-oriented Certificate and Add-on courses.
Located in the rural Darrang District, we have been able to have a good infrastructure in the campus with digital smart classroom room, one video conferencing room, well equipped geography laboratory, education laboratory, computer laboratory and language laboratory. We have several classrooms with ICT facilities to make the classroom environment more interesting and interactive. Our library is fully computerized with COHA Web-OPAC facility. We provide unlimited internet connectivity to the faculty. There is a well-equipped and well furnished Girls’ Hostel in the campus. We have installed a 40 Kw solar power plant in the campus and thus turned ourselves from consumer to a producer and supplier of Green energy. We have well equipped Gymnasium and Fitness, Yoga Centre, Indoor stadium with Badminton court and Table Tennis boards and Play ground with Volleyball court. The Institution being a co-educational institution has focused on women empowerment too. Through the NSS, Career Counseling and Guidance Cell and women Cell we have organized a number of workshops to impart the life skill and training programmes for physical fitness and preparation for competitive examinations (civil and defense service) for both the boys and girl students. As a result, of that the number of participation of students in general and the participation of the girl students in particular, are observed increasing over the years and some of them (including the girl students) have got the placement in the Defence Departments too.
Another priority area of the institution is the maintenance of regularity, discipline, punctuality. The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the College takes care in improving quality and suggests measures for overall development of the College. Grievance Redressal Cell, Anti Raging Committee and the Internal Complain Committee are very active in follow up any issues that come under the per view of the breach of rules and regulations. Apart from NAAC re-accreditation in 2015 with "B" Grade (CGPA of 2.30), our College has also participated in the NIRF recently. During the COVID 19 pandemic, we introduced online classes and we are continuing with it in a blended mode with classroom teaching as and when required. Faculties have also uploaded study materials and Class videos and audios in the college portal for the benefit of the students. Initiatives have also been taken to sign for collaborations and MoUs with Institutions/NGOs and jointly undertaking various activities/initiatives. Thus, we are trying to our level best to provide the best of facilities and quality education to our students within the available resources that may be expected in a Higher Educational Institute.
